Dr. Audra Nuru is an award-winning relationship researcher, distinguished scholar, and expert in interpersonal communication.
Relationships can be messy, and change can be even messier, but Dr. Nuru’s groundbreaking research—including the development of Relational Liminality Theory—explores how communication shapes our identities and relationships, particularly during times of transition and uncertainty.
Dr. Nuru joined the faculty at the University of St. Thomas in fall 2018. She is the Endowed Chair of Social Sciences, the Director of Family Studies, and a Professor jointly appointed in the Department of Communication Studies and the Family Studies program.
Dr. Nuru came to the Twin Cities from the New York Tri-State area, where she worked as both a professor and a communication consultant. She holds a Ph.D. in Interpersonal and Family Communication, an M.A. in Interpersonal Communication with an international specialization, and a B.A. in Organizational Communication. She is also certified in Global Business and Leadership Principles from Harvard Business School.
